Birthday dinners with Anna are a tradition. See my book, chapter 16. Tonight is the 13th anniversary of that night.

But tonight after dinner we went to the visitation for Catie Critz, the woman we remember as the sweet girl who kept sneaking out of bed to see us when we were 17 and hanging out with Logan and Adam and Luke and Wendell, and she was an adorable 7.
The grief and joy in the visitation were too much. Just too much. Say a prayer for them, tonight. I'm going to hug my kids now.

Tomorrow it's twenty years since this picture was taken at my 16th birthday party 🎂
